About Our GRE Coaching

We started because the GRE prep industry was broken.

In 2012, Dhiraj left a career in quantitative finance to build what he couldn't find: expert GRE coaching that respected the intelligence of the professionals sitting across from him.

Our GRE Coaching Story

Fourteen years. One bet. It paid off.

The bet was simple: a working professional preparing for the GRE doesn't need 120 hours of generic curriculum. They need a GRE coach who can find the 15 concepts actually holding their score down and fix those precisely, efficiently, and on a schedule that respects the fact that they have a demanding job.

01

Founded in Atlanta. GRE coaching worldwide.

Our first office was a shared desk in Midtown Atlanta. Today we coach GRE students across 14 time zones, from Mumbai to London to Sao Paulo. Every session is still one coach, one student, one screen.

02

Built by a GRE perfect scorer.

Dhiraj scored a perfect 340 on the GRE. But more importantly, he has coached over a thousand students since, and he'll tell you the score was the easy part. Teaching someone else to think differently about a GRE question in real time is the real craft.

03

No venture money. No growth-at-all-costs.

We have never taken outside funding. We grow entirely by referral. When 92% of your GRE students hit their target score, you don't need a marketing budget. You need a waitlist.

The GRE coaching methodology behind the results.

We don't sell hours. We sell a diagnostic framework that identifies your precise GRE weaknesses and a coaching process that eliminates them in the fewest sessions possible.

01
GRE diagnostic session
Before you pay a dollar, we sit down for 60 minutes and run a full GRE diagnostic. Not a practice test: a structured interview that maps exactly which question types, content areas, and timing habits are costing you points. You leave with a precise number: the gap between where you are and where you need to be, broken down to the concept level.
02
Targeted GRE study plan
Based on the diagnostic, we build a session-by-session GRE study plan that skips everything you already know. If your algebra is solid, we don't touch it. If your reading comprehension is strong but your vocabulary inference is weak, we go straight there. The plan is specific enough that you know what each hour will cover before it happens.
03
Real-time GRE score correction
This is where your GRE score actually moves. In every session, your coach watches you solve GRE problems in real time and corrects the thinking patterns, not just the answers. A student who picks the wrong answer isn't making a simple mistake. They're following a reasoning chain that breaks at a specific link. We find that link and rebuild it.
04
Calibrated GRE practice
Between sessions, you work through problem sets curated to your specific GRE weaknesses. Not a random question bank: a sequence designed to reinforce exactly what we corrected in the last session. Every problem has a reason it's there.
05
GRE test review, not just test taking
Full-length GRE practice tests happen at scheduled intervals. But the value isn't the score: it's the review. We go through every wrong answer, every question that took too long, every educated guess that happened to land. The review session is often the highest-leverage hour in the entire GRE coaching engagement.

His educational background in Leadership, Accounting and Management comes in handy for guiding the students through the same path that he has come a long way since. Apart from the professional success, this guy is a jack of all trades — a musician and a sports lover too, being the youngest NCAA football official in the USA.

Shashwat Agarwal, Lead of Strategy & Operations

Shashwat Agarwal,

(Lead of Strategy & Operations)

Shashwat believes that the way people learn deserves as much thought as what they learn. At The GRE Coach, he works on expanding how students access and experience GRE prep, building out new ways for ambitious test-takers to get what they need without the usual friction. He is not a GRE tutor, and he will be the first to tell you that. What he is, is someone who gets genuinely annoyed when good education is harder to reach than it should be, and has made it something of a personal mission to fix that. One reasonable revenue model at a time.
